I’m still me. Just me transformed!
I’m sure you could conjure up a definition of the word- “lifestyle” without the use of a dictionary and would find yourself pretty close to accurate. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition is: The typical way of life of an individual, group, or culture. “Way of life…”
What would you say makes up YOUR way of life? I’m sure if you put some thought into it you’d find that your way of life or lifestyle consists of more than just eat, sleep, work, repeat…
And even if we were to take a deeper look at these three aspects alone of your lifestyle we might find that they are jam packed with both benefits as well as detriments to your well-being.
Now let’s take a look at the definition of the word- Transformation: An act, process, or instance of transforming or being transformed (Merriam-Webster)
Ok, so if we marry these two words something powerful and exciting happens..Lifestyle Transformation!
One could argue that once you decide to engage in a lifestyle transformation that it’s a combination of all three aspects found in the very definition of transformation- In an instance you decide to act and you embrace the process!

No need to continue reading if you have your life completely together, everything is in perfect harmony, and you are living the epitome of ‘your’ perfect!.
Ok, for those of you who are still with me, let’s continue.
Now that we have dissected the definition of the phrase: lifestyle transformation, let’s ask ourselves “what does that mean for me?”
Is there an area of your life in need of transformation? Maybe there are several areas that come to mind and it’s overwhelming to settle on just one. That’s OK. The mere fact that you’re even considering a lifestyle change is a first step.
Ya know- even Sir Edmund Hillary and his loyal sherpa, Tenzing Norgay who were the first to summit Mt. Everest (the highest mountain in the world) had to take a first step! They weren’t helicoptered on to the middle of the mountain to start from there. No, they had to take their first step at the base of that mountain.
There may be a “Mount Everest” in your life which you want to summit or cross over. Maybe even a few mountains. The key is to NOT turn from them just because they seem or are so high.
Sir Edmund Hillary quotes- “It’s not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.”
Ironically in order to conquer the big we must first conquer the small!
As you search your mind for an area you feel you’d like to focus transformation on, think about your routine around that area. For example, let’s say you battle tiredness and you feel you may need more sleep or better quality sleep. It might be a good time to take a look at your routine around your sleep. Maybe choose bedtime as a starting point and take notice of what you do/don’t do right before you fall asleep. Is your phone the last thing you’re seeing or handling before you fall asleep? Maybe you’re accustomed to playing some mindless game or scrolling through social media right before bed. You can try something completely different like a crossword or read a good book. Something other than letting that blue light emit from your phone and interrupt your sleep hormone, melatonin. Or maybe take a look at your eating and drinking habits a couple of hours before bed. Just start to take notice of the things you do when leading up to the official ending of your day…your routine. The definition of the word “routine” is broken down into 3 catagories. Routine as a noun, a verb, and as an adjective. When looking at its definition as an adjective, something spectacular stands out. Watch this…
Definition of routine as an adjective: performed as part of a regular procedure rather than for a special reason. Aha! YOU, my friend, ARE that “special reason” to break up that routine which isn’t benefiting you. And that’s where we really begin. We begin by recognizing our worth to BEGIN!
This transformation is a wonderful journey. It’s so multifaceted and interconnected. Like a symphony, you begin to discover how one aspect of your life, when operating in balance and in tune, will harmonize beautifully with another. And so on, and so on.
So, we make the decision to begin, we start to build a plan. Or maybe you’d prefer to see it as a “to do” list…and now, it’s time to accept help,
This is where I come in…
